Who provides SAGA health insurance?

Initially formed in the 1950s and primarily concentrating on the over-50s leisure market, SAGA began to diversify, eventually offering financial and insurance-related products to clients. SAGA's private medical insurance is underwritten and provided by AXA PPP.

What services does SAGA health insurance provide?

SAGA health plans offer a wide range of cover across four levels of insurance. All levels offer benefits for both inpatient and outpatient treatments, giving you the freedom to choose the plan most suited to you. The highest level of cover provided is its Super Option but there are a host of benefits included in its other plans; Secure, Saver Plus and Support.

Support Option is the most affordable plan offered by SAGA and offers a very wide range of benefits. Starting with SAGA's Health Information Line, through to its 24 hour GP Consultation Line and on to the Fast Track Appointments Service, you get prompt access to private inpatient treatment covering all accommodation, physicians, anaesthetist and support staff fees. The Support Option also covers outpatient surgical procedures and offers optional Health Cash Benefits Cover.

The Saver Plus Option continues to provide everything covered by the Support Option with added cover for cancer treatment. Both radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments are covered plus other outpatient cancer treatment following diagnosis. You can also opt for optional extended cancer cover should you wish. For all your medical conditions or worries that crop up, consultations and diagnostics tests such as CT, MRI and PET scans are included along with practitioner and physiotherapist charges. On top of these, you will find that complementary therapy, homoeopathy and acupuncturist charges are also covered. Plus, if required, a 'second opinion' service and nursing at home costs can also be met.

Building on the cover already available from the first two plans, the Secure Option adds in the additional benefits of private ambulance transport should it be needed and cover for recuperative care once your private health treatment has been completed.

Finally, the highest level of health coverage offered by SAGA is the Super Option. This option includes all of the benefits of the Support, Super Plus & Secure Options and adds in psychiatric treatment for both in-patient and out-patient cover, an element that is not covered by many competitors policies. Dental cover is also provided by the Super Option providing major dental cash and dental injury benefits.
