Thanks to a proposal by Ofcom, companies which provide phone, landline, broadband and TV services may be required to send alerts to their customers in advance of the contract end date. The alerts should include any changes in prices or services and it will be a requirement that customers are informed of alternate choices and the savings possible. As it currently stands, service providers have no legal obligation to inform customers when a contract is coming to an end, which plays as an advantage to the suppliers as they can do automatic renewals with price increases.
