MPRN number also known as Meter Point reference number and M number. It’s 6 to digit reference to help identify gas supply point. This is how MPRN number is printed on your electricity bill. (See below)

How can I find out my MPRN number?

• By looking at your Gas bill,
• Contact and ask your current gas supplier,
• Contact National Grid Helpline – 0870 608 1524. – Please note that National Grid helpline provides MPRNs that do not belong to Independent Gas Transporters. For gas distributor details, look at our Switching your home Electricity and Gas supplier guide.

MPRN starts with 74 or 75 if the gas is supplied by an independent gas transporter. Few suppliers may charge higher rate from customers served by an independent gas transporter. On your part, you should make sure that accurate meter reading are passed to the supplier every month. This will help you get error free gas bills at every month. Also, you should compare gas suppliers across the UK and get the best gas deal for your home or business.
