Plusnet Home Broadband Explained

Plusnet is known for good customer service that provides value for money home broadband service and fast connection speed broadband to the UK household.

Plusnet was founded as a dial-up ISP back in 1997, their customer base doubled in 2004. Since then Plusnet continued to grow its internet based home broadband and telephone services and they are now one of the larger broadband service providers within the UK.

Plusnet is a combination of 3 different firms, Free Online, Force9 and Metronet.

Back in 2012, Plusnet launches its Plusnet fibre broadband using exactly the same network as BT (it is the same as BT super-fast Infinity broadband) to offer maximum broadband speed of 76Mbps. All of the packages offered by them come with unlimited downloads, however traffic prioritisation is used.

Hardware and Equipment

Plusnet uses “N” series technology for their wireless routers and they provide these routers with all ADSL and fibre broadband packages. This router is provided free of charge when you agree a 12 month or an 18 month contract for fibre or ADSL broadband.

Software Options and Features

Plusnet Protect Software – Plusnet unlimited products come with Plusnet Protect Software free of charge and they automatically update daily from their server facilities.

McAfee – Their security protect package includes personal firewall and spam protection which is provided by McAfee.

Additionally, Plusnet internet products come with their own safeguard and parental control options.

Email and Mailbox

Customers who buy Plusnet broadband deals will receive a default mailbox option as part of the deal which also includes unlimited alias email addresses.

You can use an alias email if you don’t not want to use your own default email address, alias email are redirected to your own email which was used to sign up broadband package.

Other Extras

Additional monthly discounts are available when a customer refers a family member or a friend the discount is only applied if a family member or friend take out a Plusnet contract.
