News that is spreading like wildfire in the UK energy market is that British Gas mails are injecting viruses in its customer’s PCs. Yes! This time it is the giant energy supplier at the receiving end of this cyber-crime. Hundreds and thousands of British Gas customers are receiving malicious mail which hijacks people’s PCs and then asks for ransom in return for logging them back. In looks and feel, these mails are superbly authentic as it uses the company’s branding. Sent with a title ‘Your summer gas & electricity bills’ the mail contains payment details and the amount the customer owes to the “gas and electricity supplier”. Britain’s smaller independent energy providers are powering forwards; they now hold, between them, 13.4 percent of the country’s household energy supply market. This has increased significantly from a mere 2.6 percent two years ago. Success is sweet, as they continue to draw in unhappy customers from the Big Six. First Utility and Ovo Energy gained 860,000 electricity and gas accounts between them, in the year to July 2015. I have read the report published in regarding over paying on energy bills by majority homes (around 70%) in UK. A study conducted by Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) says around 70% consumers are using energy through expensive tariffs while cheaper tariffs available in the market!!! Mainly dual-fuel energy subscribers who can save up to £160 a year have failed to choose the most economic deals. And most importantly the reason given by the CMA is much unanticipated for me at least. CMA found few reasons and first is Lack of Awareness about deals, tariffs and other related terms, the second is confusing bills. As a comparison service provider through Free Price Compare, it’s my moral duty to bring some awareness through my article and I have kicked off by this article which gives you a perfect insight into the ten recently launched energy tariffs by leading energy suppliers of […]
