A weekend in Orlando

Perfect for both parents and children, Orlando has that special blend ofworld class attractions and a range of activities that the entire family will love.

Disney World

The obvious starting point and a main attraction for many holidaymakers is Walt Disney World. The Magic Kingdom is the original park and is home to the iconic Cinderella’s castle, which forms the backdrop to huge firework displays on selected nights. Inside you will find a world of magic where the children are transformed into little princes and princesses at the castle salon. You can also have a seat at Cinderella’s table and feast with princesses for breakfast, lunch and dinner. After the castle you can head to one of the theme parks such as Future World or Adventure land, as well as taking a monorail over to the Epcot Centre and the World Showcase. Disney World is so big it will take a full day so get there early and prepare for the magic that awaits you.

Orlando city

Orlando has more to offer than just Disney world and has many top attractions to keep you entertained. The John F. Kennedy space centre will take you to the heart of the American space programme. With a range of informative exhibits, including the fan favouriteAtlantis shuttle, and a host of knowledgeable guides, it is a must do for any space enthusiast. There is also Gatorland where you can get up close and personal with the ancient reptiles, as well as Sea World where you can see Killer Whales. For some quiet reflection try the Orlando Museum of Art where you can take in some classic Georgia O’Keefe pieces.

Orlando eateries

America has influences from across the world which is reflected in its food. There are many burger joints and places to grab a quick meal on the go, as well as great eateries where you can relax and enjoy the night. Winter Park has a hub of great restaurants, such as The Ravenous Pig North on Orange Avenue or the Hillstone with its delicious selection of rib-eye steaks and a great Tuna salad. The Caramel café on North Orlando Avenue offers great cocktails and great value food; their Tunisian chicken dish is a firm favourite. Whether its sushi you like or simple Italian, Orlando has a varied selection of gastronomic treats for the perfect weekend getaway.
