November 25th, 2019

Today, energy regulator Ofgem said, the number of UK households switching their energy provider rose by 15% in 2015 compare to 2014.

As per the figure revealed by Ofgem, around 6.1 million consumers switched their energy suppliers last year which is 820,000 more compare to the year 2014. More than 40% consumers among all 6 million switched to independent energy suppliers.

The news was a clear indication of healthy competition in energy market and all Brits should welcome it. Now customers can get more competitive energy quotes from suppliers.

Ofgem senior partner Rachel Fletcher said “It’s encouraging to see switching levels at their highest level for four years,”

Few days ago, all big six energy companies cut their gas prices by at least 5.1%. This will give a small saving of £32 on energy bill effective from March except E.On Energy’s price cut. E.On energy’s price cut is applied already from 1st February. Still households are waiting for more price cut in electricity prices.

According to another trade association Energy UK, small and medium size energy firms are growing rapidly in UK. These companies acquired more than 107,600 electricity customers in January.

Shay Ramani, Founder of UK’s leading price comparison website FreePriceCompare.com said “Customer doesn’t need to continue with expensive tariff or inadequate customer service. It’s time to compare home energy prices & switch the supplier to make savings up to £533* or more”

He also admired Ofgem’s efforts of bringing awareness in people for switching under a campaign ‘Be an Energy Shopper’.

As a leader in price comparison market, FreePriceCompare is constantly appealing households for switching and as a part of this, company started offering cashback of up to £31.50 on switching electricity and gas supplier. To avail this cashback, one should visit FreePriceCompare’s website through topcashback.co.uk.
