York’s Ultra Fibre Optic Broadband Initiative

TalkTalk are connecting up. Homes in York will be connected with Ultra Fibre Optic broadband. Times, and communication, moves fast.

On successful completion and when all is up and running smoothly, the new technology will get going in January. A New Year roll-out treat is in store, it sounds like efficient fun, good communication.

Already, many hundreds of residents, together with small businesses in York have connected to Ultra Fibre Optic broadband from TalkTalk. It’s the talk of the town and a great internet infrastructure rumble.

As technology rolls ever more onwards, upwards and skywards, all this comes as part of an ongoing trial of the strategy of connection; the company claim super high speeds are being offered which will be 100-times faster than standard broadband. How much faster does the world get?

The network, built by TalkTalk in partnership with Sky and CityFibre, astonishingly already covers over 1,800 homes within the Rawcliffe, Clifton, Huntington and the Groves areas of York. It’s a giant in the making.

The provider states that those taking up the trial will be responsible for the testing; this means, in effect, testing each and every element of the service; January superhighway here we come, a New year blockbuster rolling forward towards the next decade and beyond.

So what about that big dip in the pocket? This might be the question in the air that is also rumbling and with less enthusiasm?

TalkTalk reckons the service will become available at the same price as standard broadband; they say it will help it to be more accessible to more people. So the net widens.

Dido Harding, TalkTalk Chief Executive commented: “Ultra Fibre Optic will truly transform the broadband experience in York and we’ve been blown away by the local support. For such a leap in performance you’d expect to pay more, but we believe ultrafast broadband should be available to everyone.”
